How to prepare artwork that prints right the first time

Every failed print job we see fails for one of four reasons — and all four are checkable before you upload.

1. Add 3mm bleed

Extend any colour or image that touches the edge 3mm past the trim line. Cutting is mechanical; bleed is what keeps a hairline of white from appearing on your edges.

2. Convert text to outlines

If we don't have your exact font file, our system substitutes it — and your carefully chosen type changes silently. Outlining text (Illustrator: Type → Create Outlines) freezes the letterforms as shapes.

3. Work in CMYK, not RGB

Screens mix light (RGB); presses mix ink (CMYK). Neon greens and electric blues that glow on your phone will print duller. Convert early so what you approve is what you get. Our lime, for reference, prints best as a spot colour — ask us.

4. 300dpi at final size

A logo pulled from a website is usually 72dpi — sharp on screen, fuzzy on board. Check image resolution at the size it will print, not the size it opens at.

The safety net: every YesPrint order passes through artwork review before anything touches a press, and a printed sample before a full run. Upload what you have — we'll flag anything risky.
